Volkswagen Golf 90TSI Comfortline Wagon (2014)

VW has updated the Golf wagon range to mirror the seventh-generation hatch line-up.
The new wagon is longer, wider, lower and sits on a larger wheelbase than its predecessor. 

One of the Golf wagon’s attractions is its expansive load space. It’s 100 litres larger than the old model and with the split-fold rear seats down, the resulting flat-floored cargo space grows to a cavernous 1620 litres (claimed). 

The Comfortline model sits betwixt the entry-level 90TSI and the premium Highline. 

Comfortline’s healthy standard features list includes a rear-view camera, front and rear park sensors, dual-zone climate-control, auto-dim mirror, automatic headlights and rain-sensing wipers.

The 90 TSI engine really punches above its weight in the performance stakes, given its modest capacity and 90kW power output. It feels responsive and pulls nicely, especially in the mid-rev range. A DSG gearbox is standard.

Fuel economy is good, but like most Euro models, premium unleaded is required. 

Our Golf wagon offered a nice balance between handling skills and ride comfort. Light, responsive steering, reasonable grip levels and a willingness to confidently change direction through twists and turns add to the pleasure of driving the new wagon. 

Inside, the wagon’s practical and versatile nature is complemented by comfy seating.
