Citroen C5 2.0 HDi Tourer (2009)
The mid-range Exclusive Tourer wagon is generously appointed with equipment and safety features. A five-star Euro NCAP crash rating adds appeal.
Its fuel-efficient, 2.0-litre, turbo-diesel delivers sufficient urge to the wagon’s 1695 kg and there’s minimal lag down low. The six-speed auto was smooth and free of the quirky shift traits of some earlier French gearboxes.
The Hydractive III + suspension offers plush ride, even in sports mode. Competent handling is marred by steering that lacks feel and consistency.
Front seats offer plenty of adjustments and, for the driver, a back massage function. The fixed hub steering wheel is cluttered with switches and its fiddly nature extends to the audio controls.
