BMW 323i Touring (2009)

by Barry Green,reviewed April 2009

For $67,400, new BMW 323i Touring buyers get a quality built, well-balanced and dynamically adept vehicle that is better equipped than before.

The improvements include a more user friendly iDrive electronics system.

What buyers will also get is adequate, not outstanding, performance from the 2.5-litre inline six and a sometimes disjointed driving experience when the six-speed auto becomes undecided about which gear is best suited to 60 km/h driving.

The Touring’s ADR fuel figure is 8.9-litres/100 km, but we couldn’t better 12.8.

Space otherwise taken up by a spare tyre (BMW uses run flat technology) and a flat cargo area provide the solution to a number of load carrying challenges.
